Bio

I got my undergraduate degree at Rutger’s University in New Jersey in 1972 and my doctoral degree at Miami University of Ohio where I graduated in 1978 with a Ph.D. in Theoretical Biology.  I worked as a post-Doctoral Fellow at Florida State University and Tall Timbers Research Station before taking a position in the Department of Zoology at the University of Arkansas.  While on the faculty at the University of Arkansas, I held positions in the Departments of Zoology, Computer and Information Science, and Engineering Technology and conducted Remote Sensing-related research at NASA-Stennis.

When I left the University after 20 years and I moved to Florida in 2000.  After a short time as a consultant in the private sector, I took a position with the Southwest Florida Water Management District where as the Senior GIS Scientist, where I directed the District’s LiDAR and Orthoimage data collection missions and  write specifications for those missions.  Upon retiring from the SWFWMD, I remained active in the field by taking a reduced-hour position with Dewberry, in Tampa, FL.  I hold certifications in GIS from the GIS-Certification Institute and as a Certified Mapping Scientist (in LiDAR) from the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.

In my "spare time", I keep busy with several different RPGs, gardening. bird (and squirrel) watching, and chasing after all types of reptiles and amphibians.
