    All,

Starting a general discussion and updates page to share thoughts and messages like the following. I'll try to support keeping exchanges in the relevant threads/discussions for a resource to store our collective thoughts.

I'll be starting a Best Practices thread and inviting anyone interested to help shape what that turns into. A balance of commercial, gov, state, software and manufacturer partners participation will be key for the checks and balances process to make it useful. Al's comments on education and practicality on our last meetings topics are valuable and I hope to have feedback and support like that with the Best Practices document. I'll kick that thread off in a minute with an invite to gather for a lunch at the JALBTCX workshop to share ideas.

I was planning on following the other working groups in collecting interested individuals for interested topics and support as to not burden and clutter everyone's inbox. I understand some, like myself, like to attend for awareness  but a comment followed by a suggestion would be appreciated.

As I am supporting the wrapping up of the Bathy Lidar Specification, I'll be moving to the Best Practice Guideline as well as an update piece to the system's characterization article published some ten years ago. Many of the system manufactures have already responded with a thumbs up to support me in gathering information on the latest systems. As Al K. suggested some best use of such systems and I generally agree, I'll likely need community support in this portion being a gov employee myself to keep the piece unbiased and impartial. I'll start that thread late Dec or Jan depending on how easy it becomes in gathering the system information.

Feel free to post in this thread to your hearts desire for where you think the bathy lidar community needs support.

    Happy Holidays!
