    The July 2025 LWG meeting is scheduled for <edit>TOMORROW Thursday 7/17 next Thursday 8/21</edit> at 11:00am PDT / 2:00pm EDT. Zoom info is on the event page and repeated below at the end of this post. I expect to provide an update on the LAS 1.4 R16 draft and review the public comments on the LAS 1.5 draft.

    1. April 23, 2025: Begin LAS 1.5 public comment period.
    2. May 30, 2025: End LAS 1.5 public comment period.
    3. May 2025: Submit final LAS 1.4 R16 draft for ASPRS Board approval.
    4. June 19, 2025: LWG meeting: Integrate LAS 1.5 public comments and prepare for publication.
    5. July 17, 2025: LWG meeting: LAS 1.5 final review. 
    6. July 2025: Submit final LAS 1.5 draft for ASPRS Board approval.
    7. August 2025: Final publication of LAS 1.4 R16 and LAS 1.5.
    8. August 21, 2025: Open ticket discussions, HTML-format publication.
    9. September 18, 2025: Open ticket discussions. Final meeting for 2025?
    10. Q3/Q4 2025: Submit to OGC for endorsement/publication.

    Small but mighty group today! Thanks to those able to join us today despite a busy summer: Jinha, Howard, Colin, and Barry.

    Today we wrapped up the final revision to LAS 1.5, which was consolidating the WKT CRS descriptions from three sections to two as outlined in this pull request: https://github.com/ASPRSorg/LAS/pull/165

    I'll leave that PR open until Monday, at which point I believe that LAS 1.5 will be ready for submission!

    The final pull requests for LAS 1.5 have been merged:

    1. Deprecation of the legacy Classification Lookup VLR: https://github.com/ASPRSorg/LAS/pull/163
    2. Consolidating the CRS VLR descriptions: https://github.com/ASPRSorg/LAS/pull/165

    I noticed that item 1 hadn't made it into the final draft of LAS 1.5, so I made sure it's included in the copy sent to the ASPRS board. It incorporates all changes that we've discussed for the past 6 months.

    In addition, LAS 1.4 Revision 16 has been accepted by the ASPRS board for final publication! I've updated the publication date and merged it into the master branch. The final PDF copy is available at the following locations:

    Next month we will look into HTML and LWG-hosted locations for the PDF.
