Bio

Dr. Stephen C. Medeiros, P.E., is an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University where he teaches courses on hydraulics and hydrology, drainage engineering, flood modeling, and data science. He received his BS and MS degrees in Civil Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology in 1999 and 2001, respectively. After working as a consulting engineer for 6 years, he resumed his academic career as a full-time Ph.D. student under Dr. Scott Hagen at the University of Central Florida, graduating in 2012. His research focuses on flood hazards and their impacts on both the built and natural environments. His research has been supported by NASA, NOAA, and DHS and he has over 35 refereed journal publications and 6 published datasets. In addition to his academic research, Dr. Medeiros is also a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Florida specializing in stormwater management and drainage engineering.
