Bio

Ruben D Gaztambide is an experienced professional land surveyor and certified photogrammetrist with over 25 years of experience in the geospatial field.  Ruben is originally from Puerto Rico but lives in Austin, Texas since 2007.  He is a licensed professional surveyor in Puerto Rico, A Registered Professional Land Surveyor in Texas and an ASPRS Certified Photogrammetrist.  His experience ranges from construction surveying, corridor/right-of-way surveying (highways, electric transmission and oil and gas midstream projects, etc.), renewables, residential and commercial land development, rail and hydrography.  Ruben has spent a good portion of his professional career testing and mixing conventional surveying with photogrammetry and Lidar technologies (terrestrial, mobile, aerial and UAS) to produce highly accurate design survey/engineering products and deliverables.

Ruben has served as adjunct professor at the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico and the Austin Community College teaching legal aspects of land surveying as well as Geodesy.  He holds a Bachelor of Science in Land Surveying and Mapping from the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico in San Juan, Puerto Rico and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

He is currently the Manager of Surveying at the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) in Austin, Texas where he leads the land surveying and subsurface utility engineering group while integrating the use of remote sensing technologies and GIS to the boundary and design surveying aspects of the LCRA’s capital projects.
